Last week, I had the privilege of hearing Kevin Kranzusch speak at Case. Over his career at NVIDIA, he worked on more than 90 chips. Yet when asked what he’s proudest of, his answer was the culture he helped build.

His message was simple. Smart people and great technology are everywhere. What lasts is how a team works together, including whether people feel comfortable asking for help before something fails.
That really resonated with me. As a peer advisor this year, I’ve learned that saying “I’m not sure, but let …

This summer I wrapped up my internship as an electrical engineering intern at AtmoSense, Inc. in San Diego, and I wanted to share a bit about what I got to work on.

My main project was redesigning our ozone sensing board. The previous version was built around a development module, and my job was to rebuild it around just the bare microcontroller chip. I did the whole thing in KiCad, drawing the schematic and routing the traces on a 4-layer board. I lowered the board area and the cost of the main parts by …

Excited to share what I've been working on at AtmoSense, Inc. this summer.

Our sensor board's current version runs on an off-the-shelf dev module, which was great for getting a design working fast. The next step is moving to a bare microcontroller chip directly on the board, and I got to lead that redesign, mostly on my own with direction from the top.

I had a first version working at full size. Then the size requirements changed, so I re-placed the whole layout from scratch and got it about 39% smaller than my …
