Wrapping up a summer as the electrical engineering intern at AtmoSense, an ozone sensing startup in San Diego. Junior year at Case starts in August.
Working on…
- The AtmoSense devboard. I took their sensor board off an off-the-shelf microcontroller module and put the bare chip on the PCB instead, which cut the area almost in half. It’s taped out and at the fab. When the boards land I get to find out what I got wrong. Write-up here.
- Staying on that board part-time through the fall, adding to it as I have time.
- Peer advising for the ECSE department, starting this fall.
- Treasurer for the MSA, which is mostly budget spreadsheets and making the case for funding.
Learning…
This summer covered the parts of hardware that don’t show up in coursework: thermal math, power integrity, return paths, and the fact that manufacturability is a design constraint rather than an afterthought. Next I want to get better at analog front ends, and at reaching for SPICE to answer a question instead of guessing at it.
